  宾语从句

  一、 宾语从句

  用一个句子充当宾语的叫宾语从句。

 宾语从句在复合句中作主句的宾语。

 常见的宾语从句有以下三种:

 1. 由 that 引导, 由于 that 没有任何意义, 也不充当任何句子成份。

 因此 that 在非正式文体中可以省略。

 这类宾语从句通常表达一种陈述意义。

 e. g. He told me (that)

 he would go to Wuhan.

 Tom says (that)

 he must study hard.

 She told me (that)

 she was a student.

 ※如果由 and 连接两个并列的宾语从句时, 第二个 that 则不能省略:

 e. g. She said she liked English very much and that she didn’ t like maths at all.

 2. 由连接代词或连接副词 who,

 whose,

 what,

 which,

 when ,

 where,

 how ,

 why 引导, 含有“谁、 什么、 哪个、 什么时候、 什么地方、 怎样、 为什么” 等特殊疑问意义。

 e. g. Do you know who they’ re talking about?

  Can you tell me what they’ re looking for?

  I don’ t know where she has gone.

 I wonder how she can find us.

 She didn’ t tell me where her hometown was.

 3. 由从属连词 whether 和 if 引导, 含有“是否, 能否, 对否, 有否” 等一般疑问意义。

 e. g. She asked me if I could help her.

 Jim wanted to know whether I had taken his English book.

 Please tell me whether you can come or not.

 在这类宾语从句中要注意两点:

 if 引导宾语从句和状语从句的区别 1

  if 引导宾语从句时意为“是否” , 从句中该用什么时态就应用什么时态。

 if 引导状语从句时意为“假如” , 从句中应用一般现在时代替一般将来时。

 e. g. She wanted to know if you were a teacher.

 I don’ t know if the letter is yours.

 They’ ll go boating if it is fine tomorrow.

 I’ ll give it to her if she comes next week.

 (2)

 whether 与 if 引导宾语从句时, 一般可以通用, 但在下列情况下, whether 不可换用 if。

 ①whether 之后紧跟 or not 时。

 e. g. I don’ t know whether or not it rains.

 我不知道会不会下雨。

 ②whether 引导主语从句位于句首时。

 e. g. Whether they will go by air or by train hasn’ t decided.

 他们是乘飞机去还是坐火车去还没有定下来。

 ③whether 用在带有 to 的动词不定式之前。

 e. g. Please tell us whether to go or stay.

 请告诉我们是去还是留。

 ④有些动词(如 discuss) 后面只能跟 whether, 不能跟 if。

 e. g. We discussed whether we should let him join our team.

 我们商量是否应该让他加入我们队。

 二、 学习宾语从句需要注意的地方

  宾语从句是英语学习中的主要语法之一, 是综合练习中出现较多的语法现象, 自然也是最容易出错的内容。

 所以学习中, 要特别注意这样一些方面。

 1. 与主句的时态呼应 2

 当主句的谓语动词是现在或将来时态时, 宾语从句的谓语动词可以和主句的谓语动词时态不一致, 就是说可根据实际需要用不同的时态。

 e. g. I hear he’ ll be back in a week.

 I hear Mr.

 Evans lives in Boston.

 I hear she has gone to Shanghai.

 I hear he came back yesterday.

 (2)

 当主句中的谓语动词是一般过去时, 宾语从句的谓语动词要用和过去相关的时态, 可以是一般过去时、 过去进行时、 过去将来时和过去完成时等。

 e. g. She said she hoped to be back soon.

 She said they were having a meeting.

 She said she would visit her uncle next Saturday.

 She said she had seen the film the day before.

 在“Could you tell us„? 请告诉我们„„好吗?” 这种表示请求的疑问句中, 用could 比用 can 较为委婉客气一些, 但 could 不表示过去时, 所以宾语从句中的谓语动词时态可根据实际需要用不同的时态。

 e. g. Could you tell us if(whether)

 Kate’ s father works in that hospital? Could you tell us if(whether) Alice worked out the problem herself?

 如果宾语从句所叙述的是反映客观真理的事情, 其谓语动词则用一般现在时。

 e. g. The teacher told us the sun is much bigger than the earth.

 2. 从句部分的语序

  宾语从句的语序和一般陈述句相同, 即主谓次序不颠倒。

 因此, 由连接代词(who、whose、 what 和 which 等) 、 连接副词(where、 when、 why 和 how) 或连词 if(或 whether) 引导的疑问句, 改成宾语从句时, 语序需要改变。

 e. g. Do you know where Mary lives?

  Nobody knows what they fought about.

 He asked whose dictionary this was.

 3. 带宾语从句的复合句改成简单句

  宾语从句在复合句中作主句的宾语, 它的位置与陈述句基本结构中的宾语相同, 所以,在实际运用中, 可以用不定式、 名词或复合宾语等代替宾语从句, 构成简单句。

 e. g.(1)

 He hopes he will be able to see her again.

 →He hopes to see her again.

 定义:祈使句是用来表示请求、命令、叮嘱、邀请、劝告或祝愿等的句子。它的特点是通常省略主语 you, 以动词原形开头,末尾可用句号或感叹号。祈使句没有疑问句的形式,一般只有肯定和否定两种形式。
